Drug Ends All Dream (D.E.A.D) Campaign - Innovation from YES Club

YES club, supported by Peace Direct through LEGASI, embarked on a passionate two phase advocacy campaign from May 29th to June 2nd, 2023 and through the month of June to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (World Drug Day). Though the international theme, "People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention", YES Club engaged with key authorities and stakeholders, aiming to shape the future through profound conversations around a local theme - Drug Ends All Dreams (D.E.A.D).

Following 3 intra-community dialogues and 1 intercommunity dialogue with Atyaps, Hausas and Fulanis.

The heads of the Atyap, Hausa and Fulani tribes in Zango Kataf community specailly requested the LEGASI team to broker peace within the tribes. After three intra-dialogue sessions led by Victor Abarshi, we further set the pace for an intercommunity dialogue. The Peace Direct/LEGASI team through the EnGAGE project, Dr. Joseph Atang (KIACIID) and critical state stakeholders and religious leaders were present to support the dialogue sessions.

2023 Elections: LEGASI's Founder Kaltumi Abdilazeeez - Call For Women Youths Participation in Peaceful Process.

Towards 2023 Elections: She speaks at the 1-day sensitization campaign #ThumbNotFist. Reports from 2019 indicate INEC has witnessed about 42 recorded attacks. She urges the youth and women to maintain active participation in sustaining peace through dialogue. Key stakeholders included - Kaduna State Police Commission, Kaduna State Peace Commission, the Commandant Kaduna NSCDC, CSOs, Religious Leaders, media houses, women groups, the youths.

Testimonials from the 'Commitment to Peace and Dialogue Pact' recently signed on the 6th June, 2022 by youths and elders of Atyap, Hausa and Fulani communities in Atyap Chiefdom of Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna-Nigeria.
