LEGASI’s team went on an advocacy street campaign educating the public on the need to be peace builders within their immediate community as we tried to connect with the many vulnerable groups in the market places also interacting with the physically challenged, women and the youth.
We were intentional connecting with the theme for 2022 #PeaceDay - End racism. Build peace, our aim was to also raise the conciousness ahead of 2023 Nigerian General Elections coupled with the heightened insecurity for youths to conduct themselves peacefully during and after electioneering. LEGASI used the event of this year’s Peace Day to advocate for a peaceful polls among Nigerian youth. The event was graced by the coalition of Peace CSOs in Kaduna state.

Catherine (Christian) and Hajiya Marwanatu (Muslim) were neighbours who lived peacefully in Kasuwan Magani community in Kaduna. In the year 2018, there was a religious crisis that claimed the lives and property of many. Catherine and Marwanatu were both victims of the atrocity. Catherine, whose only daughter and husband were massacred in front of her, she only survived by grace as the perpetrators argued among themselves with options to kill or let her live. Her home was set on fire and destroyed. Marwanatu's husband was also killed gruesomely and their house burned down to ashes.

On the 28th March, 2022 LEGASI and sub-grantees from Kaduna on the Partnership for Peace (P4P) project paid an advocacy visit to the office of the Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs - Mr. Samuel Aruwan. We also had present sub-grantee representatives from Victor Abarshi, Village Debbo Care - VDCare and Carefronting.
